Music is a vital component of worship and central to the life of FUMC.

Our Music Ministry seeks to involve people of all ages, interests, and talents, leading congregants to a deeper worship of God. We recognize the important role music plays in worship, education, and spiritual growth, not only for those present but also for all those who listen. Come to any rehearsal and you will see hard work, you will hear laughter, you will see smiles; but best of all you will see everyday people thrilled to have the opportunity to offer their talents to God.

Chancel choir

The Chancel Choir is one of the best ways to become active in the music ministries of FUMC. They regularly sing for the 8:30 am and 11:00 am traditional services. The choir sings a mixture of traditional and contemporary anthems. During Advent and Lent, the Chancel Choir prepares special music programs. Membership is open to all who have an interest in singing sacred church music and who have the desire to serve Christ through their musical abilities.

Children’s choirs

During the school year, children's choirs meet on Sundays from 5:00-6:00pm, before attending snack supper and Children's Sunday evening activities. Choirs are divided according to age group, and each choir has a director, accompanist, and adult helpers. Children's choirs sing special music throughout the year in worship on Sunday morning, and present a special musical presentation in December and in the spring. One of the highlights of the year is the Choir Camp held during the summer, when the children learn a Biblical musical on a Monday-Thursday and then perform the musical to an audience at a Thursday evening dinner theater in Pratt Hall.

Modern Worship Team

Join the worship team for our modern worship service. We need people to serve as musicians (vocalists and instrumentalists) and in the audio/visual ministry (working in the sound booth and behind the scenes). Under the direction of our Director of Modern Worship, the worship team practices once per week and then gathers for worship. Contact Mat Napp (mat@prattvillemethodist.org) for more information and to get involved!
